Today will be Day 4 of C25K, but instead of starting on Week 2 today like we're supposed to, we're going to finish out the week doing week one repetitions. Here's a little recap of how it has gone so far:
Day 1: It was rough. It was actually chilly that day and I wore a fleece sweatshirt and leggings. Noted that I needed to work on my breathing and make it more controlled. Near the end, I thought I was going to die and tried to significantly slow down my jogging pace. I had a headache afterward. Not sure if it was lack of water, oxygen, or adrenalin.
Day 2: Didn't feel nearly as difficult in general, but was still pretty hard. Another chilly day. Controlling my breathing was a bit easier and seemed to happen more naturally up until the end of each jogging portion, which tends to become a bit more erratic. No headache this time because I made sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Legs didn't feel nearly as sore and heavy compared to Day 1.
Day 3: Memorial Day! And 90ºF out. Yuck. This felt as difficult as I remember Day 1 being. Maybe even more difficult. The lack of perspiration problem I have is becoming more apparent to me. I need to figure out a way to cool myself down if my body isn't going to do it naturally, otherwise there's no way I'll ever be able to do any sort of running/jogging during the day in the summer time. I read somewhere about tying a wet, rung-out cloth around my neck to simulate sweat. As the water evaporates from my skin, it should help to cool me down like sweating would. I'll have to try this. We also had to go a different route today because our normal route was flooded from all the rain we've been having.
I'll let you know how Day 4 goes later tonight. I'm dreading going on to Week 2!! We've also been looking at armbands for our iPhones. So far, Alan has been keeping track of the time on my phone, but his pace is a lot faster than mine, so I see this becoming difficult to keep up as we progress through the weeks. We're going to each need our own tracking device since he'll likely be way farther ahead of me. We found some on Amazon that get great reviews and are significantly cheaper than anything I saw on the Apple website. On a side note...what's up with women's workout shorts not having pockets??
