- Alan has been encouraging me to write every day, which is something I ultimately have been wanting to do, but for some reason avoid doing. He suggested a small goal of devoting one hour a day to writing. Doesn't have to be good. Doesn't need to be shared. Just write for an hour. Poetry, stories, blogs, lists, whatever. As long as I'm writing. He said, "And then you'll just find yourself writing for hours." Well...hold me accountable. I'm going to give it a go!
- I think another good practice for me to write every day is to set a schedule or even a different "theme" for certain days of the week. That way I've got some sort of goal I'm working towards, which will hopefully spark the creative juices. I've got Thursday 13 going already. I think MissWisabus's idea of Monday Morning Coffee is totally cute, but of course I don't want to steal her title (and the Crohn's monster probably shouldn't get caffeine too regularly!). I can stick with Monday Musings for now...
- I realized today that I don't need to wait until a certain day to post something. I can write something several days before I post it or a week before. This goes along with the set schedule of themes for the week. I don't need to wait until Thursday morning to try and figure out a list of 13 items to post for the day. I can write it before then or compile my list as the week progresses. Hopefully this will solve my problem of forgetting to post on specific days.
- As we were lying in bed last night Alan said to me, "Only 17 more days until Rich gets here." He is super excited about his best friend finally moving to Chicago. He's going to be staying with us indefinitely until he can find a job and place to live. Alan also said Rich asked how much our rent is, so sounds like he is planning on paying some sort of rent, which would be nice, though I'm not sure how he will be able to do that with no job. Ah well...yikes. This means we need to get our spare bedroom in order. I don't want him to feel like he's living in a box (or rather amongst boxes! Haha)
- Alan and I finally got new phones yesterday. And we finally made it into the 21st century and got iPhones. Not the iPhone 4s that just got released, which we've heard still have some kinks to be worked out. But the 3Gs had a really good price on them, so we decided to go for it. So, 2 more years for AT&T to convince not to move to Verizon! I cannot tell you how happy I am to have a phone that works properly and not have to put it on speakerphone to make a call.
- In the spirit of Ramona Singer from The Real Housewives of New York, I've been working on "renewing myself." I've been making amends with some past relationships that kind of went sour and removing some of the negativity that I've been carrying with me over the past few years. It's a work in progress, but it's such a freeing feeling to get some closure in those areas of my life. Alan and I have also talked a lot about smart spending and investing and living frugally, which are big commitments to make if we want them to be successfully implanted into our life. We want to do couch-to-5k eventually too, but we both need proper shoes. So, that may be held off for a bit until we get some extra finances in order. And of course...I'm in desperate need of a hair cut. Yikes!
- Alan and I did a good deal of shopping this weekend, but managed to not spend much thanks to gift cards, coupons, rewards cards, and price shopping. I'll post a more specific break down of total saved later. But, hopefully we can continue on that sort of path!
Alright...I made my 1 hour goal of writing today! Woo! Now I'm off to find a quick lunch because I haven't yet taken my Crohn's meds today. Whoopsy!

great ideas! I'm also trying to write everyday and blog every other day.
Oh yeah, watch out world - Marisa's got an iPhone! You'll love it. it's so easy to stay connected while on the go. FYI:I've got over 100 apps on my iPhone - there's an app called "Appminer" that lists all the apps that are on sale/free each and every day which helps.
Cool, Gerry! I'll have to check out Appminer. For now we aren't adding anything that costs money. Hopefully this will prevent us from becoming too obsessed...at least for now, haha!
